  1. A quick material put together from the normal map.
  2. Here's a brief overview of making a tileable normal map with 3d-coats instance feature. Nothing pretty just me working through the process with a basic place holder. Rough sculpt of a single tile, obviously you would make a few variations for production work. Next create 4 instances a set distance apart with a single tile. i layout the tile randomly on my first instance until i have a area big enough to create the normal map and then export it out as a single obj. I then import the mesh into my modeling application so i can bake the normal map onto a single uv mapped polygon placed in the scenes origin the same dimension i originally offset the instances in 3d-coat. Final result once baked ready for use in substance designer.
  3. Me personally I would never purchase assets in a proprietary format.

    Workshop Expansion

Will the 48 hour refund apply to purchases?
  5. Leadwerks doesn't support linear colour space only Gamma.
  6. It amazes me what people will do for peanuts.
  7. I was mostly talking about “PBR” Linear colour space is a smarter way of working, it’s the evolution of the normal map we all grew to love. Substance designer is only one tool embracing the transition of many. That said I think native substance support would be a great addition to your game launcher given the reduced file sizes.
  8. I remember similar arguments when PNG first started gaining notice. Liner colour space has become the standard for 3d graphics and in time this will have to be addressed if LE wish to keep abreast with emerging technology.
  9. I mostly work by contract but I do agree the split here is unfair. It’s the artists at fault for selling themselves short and accepting such a woeful revenue split. Once a precedence is set it’s very unlikely to be reversed only abused.

    Vegetation

So would this system enable the use of mechanics on objects, for example “chopping down trees / regrowth after chopped down” or would behavior like that need to be manually placed.
  11. You don't need to provide support for TF2 items. I believe Valve's cut is always 30%
  12. With modular design sometimes it’s best to piece together larger sections in your modeling application and weld them. You still benefit from all the modular benefits but can selectively choose where to hide such issues with other geometry or pieces.
  13. Looks great. Might be worth showcasing individual assets in a neutral environment for release.
  14. The structure would irrelevant unless you where working directly with substance files in the engine. Maybe try exporting the final images into some different formats or re saving them in a different application. Sorry i cant be more help full but i don't have LE3 to test.
  15. Green = Y axis. An easy way to remember is RGB XYZ
  16. 99% of the time you simply bake the textures first time an application runs/installs. The biggest benefit of substance is the nondestructive work flow simply impossible with raster images.
  17. It seems mostly Linux user have the need to categorize themselves by OS, majority of us are just users.
  18. Unless you can use the programs native format in the other programs importing a ludicrous sized mesh is hardly an indication of prowess. Definitely a solid Zbrush release regardless.
  19. I’m looking forward to PBR support, perhaps I should give the beta a try as I usually wait for a stable release.
  20. The big benefit of PBR is predictable results independent of environment.
  21. The physical behavior, predictability and consistency of PBR lighting should be reason enough not to ignore it. It has not become a rendering standard for its bling appeal. Gone are the days of editing textures to suit individual lighting environments.
  22. You can tell it to not auto update but when you go to launch an application that requires an update it will download and install before running. I have plenty of steam games/apps but dislike not being in control of how/when i choose to use them.
  23. I dislike steam as it dictates when I update my software and should I choose not to update I am unable to use the software I purchased. Bandwidth is not free and running a household that is restricted to 4g connection of 15gig at $100 month and 3c per MB over that I can’t afford to let a program choose how I use that bandwidth.
  24. Looks great! Less is more , subtle use of normal/spec levels can really enhance scenes appearance more than the heaver settings. Keeping a good balance of levels helps when you need to direct attention to something/object such as a hepatitis ridden scalpel as you can bump it's level above the scenes average. Approach it like a photography step wedge, try to create a good balance across the mid spectrum with out blowing out the highs and lows.
