  1. The mentally impaired and color-blind person in Borneo my well just be experimenting. Creativity becomes muted if everyone connects the dots in the same order. Tools like this encourage experimentation which I think is a good thing?
  2. Many applications also natively support the substance sbsar format to allow editing of material properties.
  3. For me PBR provides a standardised consistency regardless of lightning environment. I know my assets will look similar regardless of the 3d application/engine they are being rendered in.
  4. The beginning of the end was when Adobe purchased them , will be available through the CC

  6. It's a great piece of kit but no not a modeler
  7. If you use a virtual audio cable like a free one from VB-Audio you can process your mic through the daw before it hits your application. Reaper has a very generous unlimited trial as well.
  8. A DAW such as Reaper and its standard vst's can also help with quality. ReaFir is great for removing background noise, and a limiter will help with pops
  9. A bmp would need to be converted to an ico file to show a transparent preview on the desktop.
  10. Id check to your graphics driver is not editing the colour settings, i know nivdia provide a myriad of settings.

    GeoVox

To take advantage of the benefits from creating terrain from voxels you would need to be exporting to a mesh. If you just wish to generate heightmaps maybe L3DT or World Machine might be the better choice, both come with limited free versions to try.
  13. I have always viewed the workshop as a place for community's to collaborate and share. I'm guessing it will take a good amount of time people to view it as a marketplace.
  14. Can not see many schools allowing students to install steam at all.
  15. Yes it is application specific. Until today had never seen an 8bit representation of the alpha channel in a png as i do with say a targa. I did a bit of reading and photoshop is specifically hiding the alpha channel in png’s From the adobe help desk., Transparency and alpha channels and png PNG does not support arbitrary alpha channels like other formats such as TIFF. PNG specifies that the fourth channel in a file is transparency, and only transparency. When you open a PNG file with transparency in Photoshop, it is considered a single layer image. It is not a flat background image. Alpha channels can contain anything, while transparency is a specific channel relationship. You can have multiple alpha channels per document, but only one transparency channel. Photoshop handles transparency and alpha channels separately.
  16. That one was straight out of substance designer, I always was under the impression png didn't write to an independent channel.
  17. Interesting i do not see the alpha channel. The only way i have ever seen this was with a 3rd party application called SuperPNG many years ago. Can you view the alpha channel of the png attached?
  18. Did you save your png and reopen it or simply add the alpha?
  19. You will never open a png and see 4 channels.
  20. A png uses alpha transparency that is written into the png file but not as an independent channel.
  21. PNG's don't support alpha channels, it uses alpha transparency that is part of the png format. Outputting the diffuse as a targa will give you an alpha channel.
