As Josh wrote, even if VR becomes a flop, the normal engine usage will still gain from this. So I wouldn't worry

Very interesting reading.

Sounds great Josh

Don't make the same mistake as with the last 'off-road' experiment when LE was going mobile. I do believe this will go the same way, but that's me. Anyway there are one statement that worries me a bit.
Finally, post-processing effects are pretty much a thing of the past since they work on a flat image and not in a real 3D world. The next major iteration of Leadwerks is going to be engineered specifically with these parameters in mind.
Do I read that post-processing is going away? Where do that leave us that do not aim at publishing any VR-games. Please explain a bit more about what this future idea leave us "normal" game makers. I'm just starting quite a intense effort here and don't wont to end up i same disaster as the last mobile-idea ended up in. An engine that went backwards two or three steps and took years to get well again. Tell me were not going there again and that I do not have to worry about that

This will be just great as there is no easy descent GUI in Linux that I know of. Either they are to bloated with tons of more or less weird stuff or to simple to use for any real task.

This sounds really great. Really looking forward to the release

Leadwerks Summer Games Tournament 2016
in Ultra Software Company Blog
A group blog by The Ultra Software Team in General
I just returned to Leadwerks after a long break. Unfortunately I will be away from Civilization during this time. I will save my efforts for a Winter game then. Good luck to you all summer gamers though

Nice and thanks for the effort

I downloaded the Substance demo. Unfortunately they don't supply any sample materials with it. X|
Here are some free ones https://share.allegorithmic.com/

Make any changes that you feel is the right way to go. But please don't release any of these until they are at least as fast as current solution is. But I guess that was you intention ("slowly in the background")

I find this as good news. Don't be offended now but please continue on spending your time on the reason why we are here instead of making models. I mean the engine of course. I would like to see more engine development reports instead of sales reports. Get someone taking care of those things and do what you are best on. Making a good engine. Like it or not but that's my view on this

I have asked for this more than a year ago and still waiting

Great of you

Sounds like a good Business Plan.
What's the plan for the engine besides the networking?

YES! Grid Snap .... a milestone Thanks Josh

Well... I can definitly tell that I have NO use of hair tesselation... I would be happy for just hair

Yes. How could I forget the glue and all the newspapers. It's with a little tear in my eye I now remember me and my now deceased Father spending hours upon hours building the perfect model rail landscape together. A beautiful memory. Thanks for reminding me of that Josh

Whow. Did you also have a model railway with terrain. Cool. That was the first terrain I ever did, using mosquito-net, plaster, sawdust and colors. These days making a terrain is a bit more virtual but quite fun anyway.

You are doing such professional work. Great to see

Interesting thoughts. I can see you are moving towards LUA and that's a good move I think. I started off with just LUA but found that some things as SQL was better done in C++ at this moment. So now I have a bit of same approach with a base in C++ for data store and keeping track of items that needs storage, besides that most things are still LUA. Thanks for this interesting post
