I made an "Add Component" button where unity users will expect it to be. I don't have a lot of strong opinions about how the component system should work, so I think just giving them what they are expecting to see is fine.

How would one add a component? I feel like there should be buttons to add or remove a component from the entity in the side panel.
Right-click on the treeview node and there's a menu for components.

Yeah, it seems this is what everyone is really waiting for....

“Clean” is something people kept saying when I showed the interface at ITSEC. Back then it was just a nonfunctional mockup.

I had no idea the interior walls looked like that. I just never really thought about it.

The big title text looks good. Nice interface. The only suggestion I would make is to try centering the Build button.

There's already an Entity::SetSelected method, but it doesn't really do anything. The next build will include a post-processing effect that outlines selected objects like this.

There's a few pointy edges that could actually be solved with the vertex displacement feature.

We can see here there are 12 meshes but only 10 materials, so this model would be a little more efficient if we just collapse and resave it.

It's also worth noting that in desktop mode menus and comboboxes use a separate window for the pop-up component, so there is no problems with these things appearing on top of a child window. However, this is not true when the GUI is being rendered in Vulkan.
-
Of course! It's a combination of a per-camera setting and a per-material setting.

Wait, so what is doing rhe rendering to the pixmap? GDI, or does Scintillia have that capability built into it?
-
I'm doing the same thing for 3D rendering viewports. It works very well, but the pixmap approach you are showing here is very cool.

What is the airspace problem?

Which UI framework are you using? It can draw UI on surfaces. I need something like this.
The fourth example on this page shows how to create a 3D interface in Ultra: https://www.ultraengine.com/learn/CreateInterface?lang=cpp

I have not decided yet if it should search only the selected folder, or the whole project. The first approach sounds good in theory but in practice I find it ends up being more work.

Yes. I have Lua set up in a way that is similar to the C++ entity component system: https://www.ultraengine.com/learn/EntityComponentSystem?lang=cpp

I can't say for sure but it's going faster than I thought it would.

Lovely 😊

Yes, but just this corridor is about 7 million polygons. I think you could get about the same look with a low-poly model.

So this is a native Linux app, and the window appears on the WIndows desktop?

@Genebris Colored surfaces also don't reflect as strongly, which is supposed to happen. Here's what it looks like when everything is white.

A third bounce, I have found, makes very little additional difference.

Yeah, I was planning on that.
