  1. Those are some nice models, but I like having the CSG brushes because they allow you to make new areas without being dependent on an artist to build every single piece for you. If those models were made as windows, doors, and trim pieces that aligned to a power-of-two grid, you would be able to create new things instead of just arranging different sections.

  2. I'm afraid a plugin system isn't a realistic addition right now. It would take a lot of testing and documentation and introduce many bugs with uncertain causes, since it would be a combination of mine and third party code.

My goal is to make a tool that's enjoyable to use and produces good results, not necessarily to have the longest list of features. A lack of assets is a serious problem for many people, so providing those and making a system for reusable items is a priority.

The Workshop really does change the way you work. I'm using way more third party items than before, just because it can be installed and removed so simply. All the content from Leadwerks 2 is showing up...it could have been posted already in the downloads area, but it was just something no one ever wanted to bother with. So I feel like I have a lot more material to work with already, and it is much easier to visualize ideas with than placeholder art.

  3. The Workshop is important because right now the community itself is a huge underutilized resource. Without them, all progress is dependent on me and a handful of people working on various things. The sooner the Workshop is running, the sooner we can really enable the community to start producing additional content, including effects, scripts, as well as 3D models.

It's theoretically possible to pass around zip files right now, but that's not really practical. You have problems keeping people up to date, letting everyone know when you update something, etc. Getting that functionality "turned on" is important because then I can work side by side with the community, as they are simultaneously creating new things everyone can use.

  4. I hope not. We paid for it as part of kickstarter. The last thing I want to do is wait a year for it to get to beta. He should pay someone and get it done in the next month or two.

I agree. Besides, it's cheaper to hire one person than to try to get 30 people to write something!

  5. Yes I understand now, the standard on steam is just an addon to the inde version on steam to make it like the one in the site. But you say that in steam description that its an addon so people don't just buy the standard one and get shocked that they need the inde one too for it to work.

It's not possible to buy the DLC without owning the base product. :)

  6. I still don't understand, why would anyone buy the one on the site for $199 and they could get it for $99 on steam also why would someone buy the inde version on steam for same price as the standard version on steam if the standard one had more features. Please I need a good explanation because the description does not give enough information about the versions . thanks

Well, technically it's $1 cheaper if you get indie + standard DLC on Steam. But some people prefer a standalone version.
