When do I have to put the "f" suffix after a floating point number?

 

if I put (for example) float number-= 8.0 ;

or float nmber= 8.0f;

Whats the difference.?

Thanks guys for answers. I did several google searches before asking but got no clear cut answer.They always want to answer more than you are asking which confuses me.

 

But then at my age (91)I am entitled to get just a mite confused at times.laugh.png
