  1. I dont think that its a good idea to cycle all entities in a loop and see if its time for some of them to change at billboard... Maybe in another thread... Then, maybe its possible to catch event, when LOD is changed?
  2. http://leadwerks.com/wiki/index.php?title=Meshes#CreateDecal Ah, here it is
  3. Well, maybe i can create empty model with LUA script, that would load sprite? BTW, maybe its little offtopic, but how can i use billboards? For example, i want sprite on the wall and so on. I found only coronas, but they are "Coronas are simple entities, like billboards, that are always facing the player." Is there a simple sprite, or it would be nice to have Faced parameter, wich would select if corona facing the player or not.
  4. Yep, i mean just usual using of sprites instead of models. Maybe even automatically, like trees.
  5. I'm also re-writing some Editors, so i found: http://forum.leadwerks.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2386&sid=d34f26c4bd59a140630b157a57cc4427 http://forum.leadwerks.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1943 http://forum.leadwerks.com/download/file.php?id=752 - this works for me Hope this would help
  6. Is it possible to use sprite as one of the last LODs automatically? For example, i have model.gmf(500 polys), modelLOD1.gmf(100 polys), modelLOD2.gmf(40 polys) and a sprite modelLOD3.gmf(1 polygon) (?) Not a concretic proposal, just this idea strikes my head PS: maybe this is already supported as i see something like this in forest demo, when flying up and looking down on the trees.
  7. First idea is that you cant set directly position and rotation to physic body, only using forces. Second idea - look at character controller tutorial, i got that code works very good.
  8. Well... if i were moderator, i'd cut out of this topic some interesting moments, that can help newbies and experienced programmers (for example, second Lumooja's post about optimisation or arguments "why OpenGL", because, i think, this question would rise again).
  9. I hope, when any game with Leadwerks would be published, that would be a great day for us
  10. Hey, we all are people and we all make mistakes. Looking like this thread calls "Why OpenGL", not a... "Let me show, how stupid you are" another name.
  11. Maybe you should make a large post, that would warning people not to mention it? No: i tested this engine a lot, watched a lot of video, discussing about it with lot of people. If needed, i can update my hardware, thats not a problem, but i'm afraid of gamers, who wouldn't be able to play a game.
  12. Oh.. i thought that was addressed to me
  13. Dont be so cardinal. Nobody would never ask pre-SM2. Also, nobody wound never expect high-quality render on the middle-end computers.
  14. Josh, i think, you may just add alternative SM 2.0 version for those features, that use SM 3.0, so they would work on 99% of users (i hope everyone have SM 2.0 card)
  15. Thats good if you are going to do that Of course, it cant be as beautiful as Leadwerks on modern computer, but... Rick, you're absolutely right: after 6 years of work with 3dGamestudio, Leadwerks is really like a candy
  16. Interesting thread, thanks. So, the question of all this thread: is there a "big red button" to disable I'll be happy if there would be added possibility of rendering terrains without SM 3.
  17. Totally, not bad, but those artifacts... Anyway, as my video card is not supported, this can be called great. Thats why i offered a support of "old" videocards, that dont works with SM3. Tunnels are working, but terrain_arctic, train, desert are crashing. Thats what i wanted: to have a possibility to load it.
  18. I use Win 7 on notebook and XP on computer. I bought full version to get access to community and to solve my problem with videocards, as i like Leadwerks picture very much. I said that upgrade hardware is not a large problem for me. I just wanted to know, how many users would be able to play game, that created on Leadwerks, thats all. PS: 7600 is card, where i tested leadwerks and got 3 FPS as on the print screen.
  19. No, thats the trouble: i wanted to play with Ricks server-client architecture ( http://forum.leadwerks.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3807&hilit=mmorpg ) and when i launched it, i got 10 fps on server and 5 fps is server and client works both. Yep, but 7600 looking like higher than 7000.. Or you want to say that on video cards between 7000 and 8800, artifacts and low FPS is normal? Then, dont forget to update main page http://www.leadwerks.com/engine_index.html "Leadwerks Engine requires a minimum of an NVidia GEForce 6 or ATI Radeon X2000 series graphics card"
  20. Okay, lets finish this discussion... As i understand, Leadwerks must work on all videocards, that supported SM3? Then, looking like everything must be ok. I'll add some bug-reports with cards, that supposed to be supported( 7600 gt is looking like supported, but we got 3 FPS in editor as on the first post in this thread) to bug tracker, hope that would help to improve this great engine. carlb, thanks for link: i always downloaded drivers from msi official site, now i'll try new one.
  21. Not all. On the notebooks there are very low FPS in Train and Forest demos, and on the computer there are some artifacts with lights in Tunnel demo. On both there are some crashes while loading scenes (for example, i tested right now and train demo crashed). The main idea why i'm asking about this, is I was going to code on my notebook (msi gx 600, with GeForce 8600M GT, 512MB), but i got No instances, low FPS... Then i tried to move on my PC (ATI x1950 Pro) and got It even dont run, crashes when compile shader... Looking like its time to upgrade my hardware. Its not a large problem for me, but i'm afraid that it can be a large problem for final users.
  22. Notebook: Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2,2/ Intel PM965 / 2048 RAM / NVidia GeForce 8600M GT, 512MB Computer: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ / 3 Gb RAM / Radeon x1950 Pro Its just mine configurations, in bug-tracker i can add some more configurations, where i tested Leadwerks and got bugs/artifacts, but this is not bug thread. 15% is worse then i expected (i thought it would be 10%), but thanks for link. PS: i may repeat, even 5% isnt good, imo.
  23. Videocards, that: - give pretty good picture in Aliens Vs Predator 2010, Modern Warfare 2 and Stalker (my PC, with ATI x1950 Pro) - and very good picture(well, not so good as Leadwerks, but not so far) in Dark Void, Hawks, Necrovision (my notebook, with GeForce 8600M GT)
