  1. So not sure either how to move forward, just throwing some ideas. I want to propose we do a voice meeting over discord where we decide things.
  2. I think he means wand. Ward means to guard to protect in archaic form. So in fantasy games i seen ward being like a spell that protects a place.
  3. Really like our islands/magic/tech theme.I think all we add should fit the theme even if we ripoff some mechanics. In some way of another someone did a similar mechanic then we would do , so not against ripoff but keep theme. Hmm lets do a combination of game jam and design document. Create a pool of SMALL SIMPLE mechanics related tasks, anyone can add task as they please. We know that we need some combat mechanics. Each person choose and do what mechanic they like. (examples: wizard using fireball wizard melee attack player approach monolith something happens player enter dungeon by portal and need to pick up a certain item simple dialog with a rock ). If someone completes the task and integrates it to the game , it will stay there. And then we talk and try and fit together all of them. In mean time we update the design document. Another idea maybe something less democratic. Each of us take turn to be the overlord and make a decision to add a small mechanic, respecting the theme. After the mechanic is implemented with help from all, the next overlord is appointed that will make another decision. Etc Could work if we work together and respect the decisions no matter what. Some people might not like this but will cut the need to vote and will move us forward. And i trust people will make the good calls watching the theme and what was decided in past.

  5. Neh mdgun was working on some generic missile. For wizard will be somekind of fireball.
  6. Yes just teleporters. Some kind of gateways you dial in some code and it opens to some place. You will be able to open them for short period of time and one of them will be just one way , can create some nice gameplay. One master teleporter will link to all other ships but will not be active from the beginning (unlock it somehow).
  7. Great.And will have multiple such islands(ships). Can you put in the map the island with the artificial structures underneath and make it final. I want to take care of the portal system. Was a bit busy , but will find some hours to work on this.
  8. So this will be the like some dungeons underground in the island. And could enter them by using island portals. Hmm maybe the island is actually an ancient space ship , and this levels are the inside of the ship. And we could call them like: Engine room, Generators, Armory etc
  9. A bit more complicated then i thought, If you guys can handle the graphics part animating character/enemy im fine with this. Good job on putting tasks, ill look what i can take from there. What im interested in long term is to have a game world reason behind all mechanic, dont like goals to kill 10 enemies, better say enemy want to capture some artifact, enemy sent an elite squad to kill the guardian, enemy try to put a bomb on the island etc Not just numbers.

  12. 8.Every spell cast telleports you randomly on island.Could be intreasting. 9.When enough mines/artifacts hit the island the island is destroyed. But you could move to other island with mechanic above.Game over if you are on the island that was destroyed 10.Guardian cannot cast spells, but there are some magic towers on the island you enter it and can cast spells
  13. 4.Spell mechanics, no mana, to cast a spell you need to put some crystals on the ground (throw with physics? ) in a certain area, spell is cast crystals are consumed and dissappear 5.Guardian shield, shield island from attacks a certain period of time 6.Text mode exploration, guardian cannot move, send a drone inside a dungeon, can control it by commands (move, turn, look), just a text interface for this no fancy graphics, like old adventure games.Use this to explore gather crystals or whatever else 7.Gates to travel from island to island. Guardian cannot travel alone to next island, he construct a gate on current island and send a drone that will construct a gate on the next island.Then a portal is open, when guardian pass both gates are destroyed.Can create multiple links like this to travel.
  14. 1.Mines/artifacts approach the island from random direction, shot them down with spells don't let them touch down on island 2.Mine for crystals on island, crystals used as resources to cast spells 3.Teleport spell, put a beacon on island, can teleport to it at any time, it gets destroyed in the process
  15. Like the idea that everyone try implement some small game mechanic. Will make us advance with the game one way or another.. Let's give this a try.

  17. Game design Character Main character is the ancient island guardian. Guardian is in slumber until some events awaken him. World setting Technology and magic exists in this world, the magic is some side effect of some tech hidden in the island. The islands are actually ancient spaceships. In time got covered with land and for some reason(find one) they are floating in the sky. Each island has several dungeons , inside the ship. Dungeons has enemies to kill. World events Meteor awakens the guardian. Game starts in a dungeon, location unknown , maybe inside island. To exit the initial dungeon you take a portal to the surface of the island.
  18. I started a game design document in documentation section. Will be the central place for all Discord pinned messages in #world is good we keep using that, but is not structured we need more. I think something like google doc could work better, need something that can be edited by all. Can someone create such thing ?
  19. Ok so no public release yet. Ill document we use a portal to get to the island , thats good. Try put a portal in the dungeon too that will load island1.Portal should use some particles in later version. Island looks great , but think we need a bit wider one , i liked the black artificial structures undearneath , maybe put that back. I kind of agree third person is a risk i would have not seen any comercial third person game that it doesnt have problems with the camera in one way or another. But Slas has put the work in , i think rewrite the camera again, so will use it if we prove it works ok. That been said im in favor of first person. We need to think about next steps start some discussions , put more tasks in etc
  20. i think is important to make this 0.1 tech demo, get it out of the way fast, figure out some things in the process and continue to work for next more advanced release (0.2). At the moment we dont even know what is our first island map we just have lots of tests , 0.1 will clear things out at least. And bonus we could get more community attention , but with current active people (3, 4) we seem to be doing great. mdgunn seem will have last say with this, im good with any choice is decided.
  21. Could stick to first person camera for first release.What you guys think ? Guess we can put more effort into third person camera after, to be honest i never seen a third camera working perfectly even in commercial games.
  22. We need to prepare the 0.1 release. Maybe in the weekend to release this if all goes well. Things that need to be done that i can think of: Make the csg dungeon the default map. At end of dungeon , go to the island in some way (portal, ramp ? mdgunn please please make the choice here) Use the island map from mdgunn with the artificial structures beneath. Integrate the third camera from Slas to the first island add wizard model (im a little confused here what wizard we use just add one to the map for now ) create more models , populate island fade in/out logo for the game Things that maybe will not go in this release: Menus, Rick any news with this ? , if you dont have the time at moment no problem , i could add just a start button with le gui meteor cutscene ? If i missed something, or other issues do tell. Most of the things are done we just need to make this release. Please disscuss.

  24. Thanks , i figured how to use this from blender.Next i export to fbx. But i dont know how to make this colors appear in leadwerks editor ..
  25. There was a vote people didnt want portals from island to island but level progression.This just as reminder. Dungeons exists underground in the island. I see 2 options (regarding how places relates to each other): Entry should be visible on the island (cave,portal,monolith, device) Entry by portal The end portal could lead us to another dungeon, and keep option open to return to surface. So you could enter another dungeon and exit that to surface in other part of the island.
