3DWS vs. Blender

Why would I choose to pay $50 for 3DWS over using Blender?

Is the learning curve less in 3DWS? Is the fact that it is designed with Leadwerks in mind beneficial and a time saver? Would buying UU3D still be a really good idea?

Take note, I haven't even downloaded the demo yet and my ability to create organic 3D graphics from scratch is suspect. Mostly I want a tool that has as small a learning curve as possible that allows me to customize assets I buy from dexsoft or other sources.

3DWS is a good to use little tool.

But Blender , specially on last version is easy to use, and like modelers tools as Silo and others, it's really complete and have all you need from modeling to animating.

It's really powerfull with all shortcuts like Edge/Face loop selection, loop cut , extrude functions etc ...

If you want ot make lightmaps more easily and use CG brushes than take 3DWS, if you can put more effort take Blender.

But if your purpose si pure modeling , texturing , and you want all classic functions of modelers than take Blender.

And LE3 will incorporate 3DWS if i understood well ?

It's up to you :)

Blender & 3DWS are two completely different software.

Blender is more of a 3D art modelling/ animating etc tool

3DWS is more of a fast level creation tool.

It will take you longer to make levels with a lot of buildings (for example) in Blender but when it comes to characters, props & more detailed modelling use Blender...

Oh and Metatron, Blender is totally perfect for what its made for :) (disclaimer: Just poking fun not trying to start an argument)

Customizing assets is more a job for Blender though.
