  1. Now many new users wait until December to have a license Leadwerks.Missing four months to teache new users and create new video tutorials ,i think Lua better than C++ for beginner.

Thank you very much for made reality Leadwerks for Linux smile.png

    Sorry my bad English

    thanks

You and I will get along just fine.

    This guy knows what's up.

@Rick - you've got a point, but there is always the possibility of resentment of a pay4documentation policy being directed at Josh. Leadwerks number one priority should be to have as high a quality output from its developers as possible, not just the ones who don't mind paying extra to a 3rd party, for an instruction manual. It would be a legit practice but I feel, the official docs aren't as robust as they aught to be for December. Now if Josh wants to pay someone to make some documentation that is available for free that imo would be the way to go.

The demand for Lua + Flowgraph is real and therefore the docs should not all be intro to C++ in disguise. I feel an official documentation team of Aggror + shadmar would be pretty good. Just my opinion.

  2. Hmm not very convinced about it but for 20 bucks a good catch.

Doesn't Blender have a good parametric tree plugin?

I tried to say this myself but that day my connection cut itself off just as I pressed post. Thanks for saying it in my stead *hi five =)

  3. The fully dynamic lights u saw were probably from Leadwerks 2. Leadwerks 3 renderer is still a basic renderer until Josh updates it to also be fully dynamic. I think in a couple of months. It's very real and not fake =p

  4. I don't expect most people to listen to me. But if there is just that one guy/girl new to Leadwerks coming to the forum and wondering what is this blender stuff, then it was worth it =p

    Anyways I can't complain we're getting a blender plugin.

I'm out of words for trying to convert the masses. Instead I'll have to try to pull a shadmar/Josh/solar lune and just strive for personal awesomeness.

  5. Hi guys, you've seen people like afecelis making great blender tutorials and perhaps in the past you've ignored them because you're a programmer who isn't interested in modeling/texturing/animating or you didn't see the usefulness of blender in your workflow because of your Ultimate Unwrap license. However seeing as the blender plugin goal of 30k has been reached by Leadwerks Kickstarter I feel that the equation may have shifted for many if not all of you, only you may not have realized it yet. I am typing this out as a way of giving you a little overview of what blender may have to offer you as its plugin undergoes development.

Blender is Opensource, and therefore Created by Programmers and Hipsters

I feel that this point deserves to be at the top of the list considering that over 90% of Leadwerks forum members are either Programmer or Hipster (or both). Joking aside, what I mean is that some of you guys haven't upgraded your Windows since what Windows 98? Windows XP? Many of you also sideboard Linux or perhaps you only run Windows when you have to. My point is that people like that want to have control over their hardware and their software and there is no better way of doing that than to incorporate open source code into your daily life. Blender is open source and it was created and is maintained to this day, by people JUST LIKE YOU. Blender is a tinkerers/coders wet dream, and also considering that it has a much heavier than normal focus on game production in its design than other 3d packages such as Max/Maya, it is also a game developer's software. Tinkering + Game development. Hmmm. I'm trying to tempt you.

    It's not just for "Artists"

For those of you who don't want to learn modeling or animation, blender still has usefulness. There are many beautiful effects that you can make for your game without having to know anything about modeling. Many 3d assets that need to be made can be made with procedural knowledge that doesn't require any 'art' background whatsoever. Particle effects, physics simulations, mesh decimation just as strong as Zbrush's decimation script (for turning your assets into destructable assets), cinematic tools, city generator scripts, tree generator scripts, the list goes on and on. And since many of you are programmers you can go in and tinker with these scripts or write new code of your own from scratch. You have full control to customize blender for your needs.

Blender Will Save you Time and Money

For those of you who have been depending on Ultimate Unwrap for editing the timings on your animations or finding your bones or manipulating the UVs of models that you have purchased, blender is, especially now, the most logical upgrade that you can make for your Leadwerks endevours. If you guys already know about bone structures and UVs and normals, you owe it to yourself to utilize a more powerful software that is more capable and flexible, and that is what Blender is. When you purchase an asset, you should be able to edit it anyway you want. Blender will allow you to get the most from your art asset investments. Want to make that Space Marine you bought into a Space Pirate? Just slap on an eyepatch. Want to turn that general store exterior you just downloaded into a strip club or a gun shop, just slap on a new billboard and you are well on your way to getting the most out of your investments.

Blenderartists.org is a Great Place to Get a Feel for the Blender software and Community

For anyone who is interested in incorporating blender into their workflow. I suggest Blender.org for downloading the software, but Blenderartists.org for learning more. Just go there, tell them about why you are there, I'm sure plenty of them would be interested, and ask them whatever you want. Ask them about notable blender projects in the past, notable blender projects of the future. I think you might be a little surprised as what lies at the deep end of the rabbit hole.

Again, I only say this because I REALLLY think it is a good thing for just about everyone here. Congrats to all on the blender plugin. I've said what I could say. I wanted to be able to say it better because I think it would help many of you guys to get involved with blender. Please note I didn't get too specific on what the plugin will do because honestly I don't know yet. =p But basically this is just a heads up, get ready, this may be something that you find very useful.

  6. This gonna be my last off topic for a while but was just noticing how cool people think violence is sometimes, when playing games or watching movies, reading comics...

Well... I think at least when we are teenagers we've all had that fantasy of being outnumbered by some bad guys, or jerks, whatever and someone how pulling off a perfect victory with our bare hands and perhaps some environmental weaponry. (Come on, what guy here hasn't thought about picking up a desk beating down a bunch of idiots without getting touched)

Well... I just saw it happen on youtube. A really skinny guy was surrounded on the sidewalk, for whatever reason, by a group of larger guys. And somehow, he punched one, and that guy went unconscious, he fought with the other guy who went unconscious too. But once that guy was unconscious with his face on the ground. The skinny guy instead of walking away ran and then jumped into the air and stomped on the back of his head with both feet. Then after that apparently another guy got knocked out by this skinny dude. Afterward the skinny guy ran dazed into the street, almost getting hit by a car and then disappeared into the night.

It wasn't awesome. It wasn't badass. It was terrible. And there were a bunch of by standers just watching and doing nothing about it. It just makes me wonder if the reality is so ugly why is it so natural for ignorant children to fantasize about being in that skinny guy's situation?

I mean I've been in fights before. One notable fight was when I beat up a bully bigger than me in a friend's neighborhood. For a good 3-4 days I got treated like a I was Rocky or somebody. That fight felt great because of the outcome. But when I think back on it, it only ended well because there were 6 guys in the yard that day who all pulled me off of that bully. While in the youtube video nobody seemed to care and just let him brutalize an unconscious man like that.

Just pondering these things as I'm thinking about animation sequences for my WIP game's protaganist to whip out on dem baddies.

not gonna link that video as I find it disturbing

  7. If only I'd had a crystal ball. Earlier this year I would have had enough extra cash to top off the stretch goal myself. If the kickstarter doesn't make it through, then maybe at a later point I would be able to just fund the plugin myself. But that would be a number of months from now and if I funded it myself I would probably want a few guarentees on what features would be implemented in the end.

  8. Well first of all, the most obvious reason is the one most people forget, Blender is Open Source. Which means that it is the will of all the developers that people take advantage of their work for FREE and incorporate their software into commercial projects.

This means, that unlike a 3dsMax plugin, Leadwerks can totally make Blender its "*****" and do whatever it wants to with any of blender's features as long as Josh doesn't take the code and claim it as his own. This is why the plugin format is so powerful. Josh could theoretically take the blender viewport and reskin as a tab inside of Leadwerks THROUGH the plugin.

This means you would never have to deal with blender interface or even have know anything about blender becaues the plugin would convert the blender work into leadwerks output seemlessly and automagically. Thsi means you could animate, texture, sculpt, make particles, UV unwrap, use blender's CRAZY POWERFUL nodes, make cinematics all of that inside of Leadwerks editor, through blender's programming, via a plugin. Blender even has built in networking for when you work on the same project with a team!! There are so many things about blender that the average person doesn't know and all those features would be at Josh's fingertips and every Leadwerks user would inherit allt he beneftis of years and years of hundreds of people's contributions to blender.

Theoretically. It just all depends on how seriously Josh and the community takes it. You guys could have it ALL inside of Leadwerks editor through blender without having to know a thing about how blender works.

  9. Well ok, but I just thought you might want to know about the 'sleeping beast' that is Leadwerks performance once you cross a certain threshold. You have to keep in mind that I didn't always have this card either - my performance went from chugging at 25 fps on simple scenes to what I just mentioned about the giant forrest not slowing down, a total "dayum" moment. Gave me a new respect for Leadwerks technology

  10. I remember back in LE2, that after I upgraded to a GTX 670 that Vegetation in Leadwerks got RIDONKULOUS. I mean I couldn't bring it down below 30fps down hardly if I tried. And believe me I did. I think I had like 4million polys of pure vegetation at max detail + the Crysis SSAO shader that someone donated to the community (GOSH I hope that shader still works with LE3!!) settings and it stated at around 40fps. I couldn't increase the density of the forest anymore. this was at 1900 res

It might have been higher than 4million I can't remember because my LE2 install completely broke after I installed Leadwerks 3.

  11. Walk down a steep hill with stilettos on and you'll see why stairs are a better option than ramps when you can't have an elevator...

maybe but imagine being able to push ur groceries into ur home on a little portable buggy, or being able to invite people with wheel chairs into your house - they would probably think you were pretty badass for the ramp

anyways I'm modeling a building with all ramps now

  12. It just occured to me when I was watching a video about North Korea and they were showing a building that had ramps in place of staircases. It just made me think, why do so many people buiild steps to their home when ramps are so much better *mindblow*

You may say that steps can handle steeper inclines but if you place little indentiions through the ramp, you could climb up just as though you were walking up a hill or a moutain trail.

People just do whatever other people do without thinking

random thought, but just seeing those people with such a different way of doing things building ramps instead of stairs at least in that one building just had me think
