    Much nicer vid Kevin. We've seen a few nice arcade style games, from FallingBrickwork and AndyGFX to mention two that stand out, but this has to be the best looking and most accomplished game I've seen in Leadwerks so far with great looking game play game and functionality. You have both the artistic talent and the programming skills needed to succeed and are onto something special here. Keep up the good work

     

    Thank you Pixel!! It was definetely a great learning experiance, I knew I always wanted to make games since forever. People used to tell me, "why dont you just look for a job at a game company, your art skills are really good, and no one can be good at all of this, your spreading yourself too thin". Lol but no one knows you like you know yourself, I proved them all wrong and im finally doing what ive always dreamed of. I didnt give up and I didnt listen to other peoples ramblings about how I should do things. Completing this game is like a dream come true for me.

  4. it looks really nice! But I can't say I agree with throwing away Leadwerks shadows. Really lowering the resolution would probably be a better way to preserve low end PC performance.

     

     

    Pancakes you make a very valid point.

    I tested some of the lower shadow qualities, still was not up to my standards on low-end pc's performance wise. It needs to have great gameplay performence like metal slug lol.

    Does anyone know how to do sprites really well? I need some help with creating weapons, enemies etc. I have started making them as we speak. But Me and my other sprite guy have a lot to do.

     

    We are making a 2.5D RPG Platformer similiar to Devil May Cry/CastleVania.

     

    I wrote a module that allows me to utilize sprite sheets, this is a little video showcasing walking and idle animations....

     

    The game will have rich storyline, all characters, enemies and items will be 2d, and the scenery will be 3d utilizing leadwerks rich realtime lighting solutions. Will not have to worry about framerate with 2d sprites lol.

     

    If there are any good sprite artists, holler at me!

  6. If you are changing a shadow-casting light's range the shadow is being redrawn each frame.

     

    I turned shadows off with the SetShadowQuality() command

     

    The shadows that you see were made using Giles, I threw away realtime shadows for best performance on low-end PC's.

     

    Unless however the engine is still drawing shadows even though they are completely naked to the eye.

  7. It appears you are using a point light with an enormous range and shadowmap size. This is probably the slowest and most wasteful light you could make, and it results in your objects casting shadows at different angles.. You should use a directional light.

    There is no realtime shadow casting...

     

    light flicker is to compliment the continuous change of lightrange as fire blows through the wind, the size of the omni is actually different from what you currently see.

  8. Here is a video that I made earlier in the month showcasing about 60% of the game progress, forgot to post it.

    I will make a brand new one soon that showcases the other levels, weapons, the new 2d UI, and enemy types.

     

    In one of the levels, which is a marshy area, I have certain areas of the map where the player slows down if he gets caught in mud etc. A forest where broken tree logs are in the way which makes it harder to survive as your score increases etc.

    If thats so, how am I able to achieve great results with Leadwerks in such a short amount of time compared to most and I dont even ask for help on the forums? Please tell me... my goal is to make games and be damn successful at doing it! Now, you can think your so awsome because youve written stuff for 3dRad, but if thats your goal then fine. But its my goal to make games fool. How dare you say pathetically inept, you have no idea how hard I have worked to get where I am today.     i had licensed 3DRAD a year before your face ever appeared there... i've been following Leadwerks for years, before there was even a Leadwerks to speak of...

     

    my point exactly Mike Hense :) My goal is to have my own studio making games. At this point in my life, I have overcome all my fears of even thinking I am not capable of achieving anything. Now go and try to do something thats even worthy of a game, o wait I forgot, you cant model, texture, rig OR ANIMATE! Hows that crappy submarine coming along? Is it animated, does it have a spec map?

    he's just as full of it as (insert your choice of name here) is, only difference is that he can model a lil...

     

    noone's offended Kev... these people have been around for a while... they know who you are... they just consider the source...

  16. kinda hard to train for something when you have no idea what's coming... what's gonna be changed unexpectedly... but i'm sure you'll see that when you actually start writing some code for something more than a simple walkround in a level...
