Lightmap shadow issues.

Recommended Posts

Ive included an image of the issue. Not sure if this is a bug, or fact of CSG or somthing else but obviously it doesnt look very appealing.

What causes this or how can this be prevented, or is it simply a bug with the lighmapping?

The good news about computers is that they do what you tell them to do. The bad news is that they do what you tell them to do.

Andy... are you talking about those "shadowed" lines radiating from the upper left quadrant and the darkened opposing area on the right?

I am, and at the other side of the arch it is completly dark with a distinct line where the arch CSG ends and buts upto another CSG block above it, it should be all light like the wall above.

i'm no expert on this stuff, but i've seen something similar before in my modeller, and in Giles...

i think the model's geometry is the problem here... what the Lightmapper is "seeing" are the lines that make up the triangles that make up the model...

maybe a smoothing pass in the modeler might solve it... or if there is some way you can adjust the normals...

sorry i can't be of more help on this...
