Delinx32 Posted May 18, 2010 Share Posted May 18, 2010 What kind of FPS should I expect in the editor? Is it better/worse/same as in-game? Currently, in the editor, I'm getting <10 fps with only a 1024x1024 terrain loaded. Is that normal? My rig is pretty beefy, so I'm thinking something isn't quite right. I'm running win7 x64 on a intel quad4 3.6ghz cpu with 8 gig of ram, and a geforce 7800 gtx 512mb. The graphics card is the weak point of my system, but I'm torn on upgrading it because I don't want to run top of the line dual sli on a dev machine and then find out that joe-user's PC doesn't come anywhere near my performance. DaDonik Posted May 18, 2010 Share Posted May 18, 2010 (edited) Your problem is the 7800, thats for sure! The only things that really impact performance in LE are the screen resolution and shaders. Try using the editor in a smaller window. Josh Posted May 19, 2010 Share Posted May 19, 2010 You can get a 9800 GTX for around $125, and it will run everything fast at maximum quality. The only reason you would need one bigger is if you have a really large screen. All those extra stream processors make a big difference when you are rendering a 1920x1080 image. I am using an ATI 5730 at the moment, and it runs STALKER, Crysis, Leadwerks, everything at 1080p and max settings, and it's fast enough I don't even think about performance.
