  1. I am trying to make a script for physics based doors (like Amnesia) where you can pull and push the doors. Right now I have slam open and slam closed, but the pull and push are super glitchy, so I think I'm approaching that the wrong way.

Any suggestions on how to approach this?

    How do they glitch?

  2. I agree with you Rick. I did try to create a game with my friends too, and we created a big demo of "skyrim" like game based on Unreal Engine. I think we could complete a project if the guys I did work with, was more active. I did 3D modeling, programming in C++, but in the end, I have just given up. It is to the large task for one person. Then I found Leadwerks + I hate Windows, cannot even use it. So I moved from UE4 and Win to Linux.

I think as group leader you must create the "basic" game by yourself. So you don't need to worry about programming or other stuff later. YOU need to do all planning work and when you achieve what you want, you can just buy 3d models or find people who could help you. If you are not a programmer and level designer, you will fail + game arts are very important. My sister works as an architect, and she did create many levels on paper, without her I wouldn't even bother with this idea to create a game. Good luck with you game, and never give up. But don't start to plan about the new Skyrim game or Mass Effect. It is to Large project for one guy, or is this is what you want, try to start with character controller first + animations. If you are able to create a good looking game play with good animation the you can move towards the idea of creating levels. And never ever change your first plan. If you are making a simple game, make it simple. Do not try to create another Diablo, because if you fail, you will start to hate it.

  3. Hi guys! Beta drivers are available on Ubuntu 14.04!!! I did test Leadwerks on my AMD machine (AMD FX8350 / Crosshair V formula-Z / AMD 7970 MATRIX), and I must tell that many major bugs are gone. Leadwerks did fly with no problems at all ( well some problems is still relevant like, editor crash sometimes when you close Script window ). cool.png To activate them, you need to check Pre-released updates (trusty-proposed). And i think this is first time when Cannonical back-porting the proprietary driver.

" Ah and by the way, it works only on 14.04 LTS and 15.04 Beta. "

  4. Hi guys! I having trouble with putting a gravity force inside a object. For example you have a planetoid, and you want to land on it when you have gravity set to 0 in space but have the gravity around the object? How could i achieve this? I tried to make a trigger on top of planetoid, but when i run i always run like on a platform ( i fly away ), and not on the round surface of the planetoid.

  5. Heya guys,

I was thinking will LE work on microsoft's surface pro 3 i7?

I'm traveling alot, and I often show some demo's or showcases of what I made. So it would be really easy to use.

    Cheers,

    Dennis

Hi. I think it will work, cuz i7 use hd5000 GPU, and it support DirectX 11.1, OpenCL 1.2 and OpenGL 4.0.

  6. What are you talking about? Lol, have you ever used other game engines? Like Unreal Engine 4 and Unity? I am sorry, but they are also do crush. And when it comes to games, and game making, you must use save button. And I must tell you, that your modeling and your programming can cause all these crashes you talk about, even if you use UE4 it will crash on you if you doing something wrong. GL with your project man. You are like a kid who don't like the bike, because it's purple. Bing the facts, and ppl will hear you. And all this stuff ppl writing here about bad Linux version often is because of drivers, or not supported version of Linux. Use Ubuntu with KDE it is more stable and you will be happy, if you are still not, then the problems is not in the engine.

  7. While he is annoying he has a point. Using the Linux editor is like using your TV remote with oven mitts on -your are technically using your TV but would it not be nice to actually be in charge of what your watching?

If you not yet realised this then you will once your usage have become a bit more advanced

Thank you for your answer. For "Linux" it is stable. Have you seen other software that was ported to Linux? For example 3d Coat? I love it. But if I am at full screen, and someone sending me a message in Skype, I will get a black screen. And I cannot even drop the X server and reboot! THIS is a major bug, because if I forget to exit Skype I can spend hours for nothing. I have never seen a single corrupted file under five weeks in Leadwerks. And we do quite advanced stuff with it under Linux. You are not alone. By the way have you tried Mono in Unity?=) Unreal do crash on me too ( in windows ).

Sometimes it is not always the software bugs. It could be drivers. Linux itself has many old bugs in the X server and to work around it, you need more than one guy.

  8. Hi guys. My question is about newton dynamics and how to import cloth from for example blender into the leadwerks? If I understand right, this feature is not available in leadwerks today? Any way to work around this problem? In UE4 I did use the APEX SDK from NVIDIA, but this is no NVIDIA here in Leadwerks. It is not critical to my project, I can use other stuff, but I just want to know if this is on to do list?

  9. I agree with Padman, a lot of things break / crash leadwerks when used with Linux.

Pfff. I'am tired of this guy here on the forum who cry all day long about how Leadwerks is bad. Especially in Linux part. Guys, yes, it is bugged, here and there, but for 95 % it is stable, and for another 5 it is not critical. Install Ubuntu, and stop this crying please. Ronald, if you like UE4, maybe you want to spend time learning it? wacko.png
