  1. I totally agree. It's what people usually do when selling assets on sites such as 3D02 or The3DStudio. The large pack aimed at people who wants to build a library of resources, and smaller ones to developers which only need to fill a gap (for example, I usually do trees with Pawel Olas' Lightwave plug-in, but could benefit from borrowing plants and rocks).
  2. To say the truth, not only the issue is solvable (by embedding the video with SWFObject, for example), but it has always been addressed... a very recent update (done while I was falling asleep, apparently ) seems to have changed that. Looking into it now. Edit: I overlooked a parameter in the last edit of the template, sorry.
  3. Hi there, here's a little hello from the designer of this site! As some of you may know, I've been hired by Josh to maintain and improve the main website and the Werkspace, as I already coded and designed the former and the current incarnation of this site. The work is far from done, as the site is going to be much more dynamic, and I would like to know if there is any tweaking you may want to see, or any feature you may be interested in. Any comment, constructive critic or suggestion is welcome and will be taken into account. Also, I'm currently working on a slideshow of screenshots showing the potential of Leadwerks Engine on the main page. I'm temporarily using some screenshots from the gallery, which has some great showcasing in it, and I may use many of them, but I encourage anyone who would like to have his image featured on the main page to give it a shot. The features we're 'pimping' are rendering, programming, terrains, physics and vehicles. The images are just going to accompany a brief description of the features, and will not be very big, but it would be nice to see what everyone can come up with. Good luck with your projects and see you on this space!
  4. Modern platform games are using advanced graphics already, such as Bionic Commando Rearmed and Shadow Complex, which usually involve advanced lighting, FOV and physics... so technically he would be on par with commercial titles, which is neat. Well, these games are often aimed at old-school players, not the casual market, as the two ones I mentioned just above. If you're going to do a challenging platform game, chances are you are going to market it to "veteran" players. But even for the more casual players, Trine was a commercial success. I think it's actually easier to sell a technically advanced platform game than, let's say, a FPS, since the former genre is not oversatured and people still love these gameplay mechanics (expecially with the addition of physics). Also, if you're going the casual game market route, there are many genres which easily outsell platform games.

I've added the searchbar on both templates. About the colours, I can add more skin sets once we've done tuning up everything.

Did some minor modifications on both templates, corrected some visualization problems in IE7, and added a forum path as suggested by wh1sp3r.

Hi there, I've just added a variable width template which keeps the overall look intact (tentatively named "Leadwerks Wide"), aimed at everyone who finds useful to have recent updates on the main community page.

Andy Warhol didn't have people to browse through lots of content while staring at his paintings, and IMHO was actually looking for the opposite result, a sensorial extravaganza, since he took inspiration from the abstract expressionists of his era. There are certain conventions in templating which convey a particular feeling to the user, which in this case should be "hey, that's a great and well supported development engine", and that's the only thing I am looking for; it's more design than art, and I never intended to artistically experiment with it let alone compete with such mind blowing icons. Hi DJDD, this skin was intended to seamlessly integrate with the main website, in order to give everything a cohesive look. I'll surely make a simpler, variable width skin in the near future based on IP.Board for the users who prefer this choice, but I think the default one should still be based on the website layout or first time users will feel like leaving the website when entering the community.
