  1. Hello, I hope this topic will be okay here. I've begun going through the tutorials, and managed to get through the first one just fine. However, using the PDF called Rendering Lights, I keep getting errors. I even tried copying the code and pasting it directly, as I used that method on the other tutorial to figure out what i was doing wrong. I have typed the code out by hand probably twenty times or so, and continue to get errors, and it won't build. Is there a way in the Visual C++ program to highlight what my errors are so I can try to fix them? any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

PS. I even used the video of the same tutorial. I noticed that the code didn't match up in some ways to the PDF i.e. a space here, and parentheses there.

  2. Sorry, wasn't intending to stir the pot :P I'm sure any time I spent with one wouldn't be a waste of time, but I don't want to skip around, as I have a tendency to do that :P I'm trying to look at it from an entry stand point, since I have no experience in any, not since the commodore 64 :P I figured "hey, I don't code, let me ask some coders." Are the code interchangeable, i.e i have one item scripted in Lua, and another in C++? (now the complete noobness comes out :P) I'm just trying to wrap my head around how things work. thanks!

  3. So, I'm pretty well sold on using Leadwerks as a hobby/eventual engine for small games. My question is this: part of the reason I chose it is because i want to learn programming, but which language? I'm more of an artist than anything, so I'm mostly clueless when it comes to programming languages, other than knowing that C++ is a major game language. Just so you know where my head is, I'm not expecting to be able to jump in and make a AAA title, or an mmo or what have you. I'm 34 years old with finally enough free time to learn something new. From a starting stand point, where does one begin in picking a language? And why?

  4. Hello all. Recently I've downloaded the engine in order to evaluate it before biting the bullet and buying it. I'm looking to learn game design as a hobby, I'm more of an artist/musician than anything, but have wanted to learn coding so I don't mind picking up an engine that doesn't give me everything. On to my question: I'm working with the terrain editor, trying to learn the ins and outs. I've noticed there is a "fog" I'll call it, covering the majority of the terrain, and I can't figure out how to remove it so that I can view the whole tile. Am I missing something? I've watched the terrain tutorials for signs of whatever it is, but don't see anything. Thanks!
