  1. Hello, I hope this topic will be okay here. I've begun going through the tutorials, and managed to get through the first one just fine. However, using the PDF called Rendering Lights, I keep getting errors. I even tried copying the code and pasting it directly, as I used that method on the other tutorial to figure out what i was doing wrong. I have typed the code out by hand probably twenty times or so, and continue to get errors, and it won't build. Is there a way in the Visual C++ program to highlight what my errors are so I can try to fix them? any help would be most appreciated. Thanks! PS. I even used the video of the same tutorial. I noticed that the code didn't match up in some ways to the PDF i.e. a space here, and parentheses there.
  2. I was beginning to think that as well... Thanks for the responses guys. Much appreciated! Now to go dive in to some coding. or more like trip and fall... either way its bound to be a good time
  3. Sorry, wasn't intending to stir the pot I'm sure any time I spent with one wouldn't be a waste of time, but I don't want to skip around, as I have a tendency to do that I'm trying to look at it from an entry stand point, since I have no experience in any, not since the commodore 64 I figured "hey, I don't code, let me ask some coders." Are the code interchangeable, i.e i have one item scripted in Lua, and another in C++? (now the complete noobness comes out ) I'm just trying to wrap my head around how things work. thanks!
  4. So, I'm pretty well sold on using Leadwerks as a hobby/eventual engine for small games. My question is this: part of the reason I chose it is because i want to learn programming, but which language? I'm more of an artist than anything, so I'm mostly clueless when it comes to programming languages, other than knowing that C++ is a major game language. Just so you know where my head is, I'm not expecting to be able to jump in and make a AAA title, or an mmo or what have you. I'm 34 years old with finally enough free time to learn something new. From a starting stand point, where does one begin in picking a language? And why?
  5. Nice, Thanks! It took me a few minutes to figure out how to place objects. good thing there's a pdf I appreciate the help.
  6. Hello all. Recently I've downloaded the engine in order to evaluate it before biting the bullet and buying it. I'm looking to learn game design as a hobby, I'm more of an artist/musician than anything, but have wanted to learn coding so I don't mind picking up an engine that doesn't give me everything. On to my question: I'm working with the terrain editor, trying to learn the ins and outs. I've noticed there is a "fog" I'll call it, covering the majority of the terrain, and I can't figure out how to remove it so that I can view the whole tile. Am I missing something? I've watched the terrain tutorials for signs of whatever it is, but don't see anything. Thanks!
