Tool for making dev videos?

Recommended Posts

I use Corel Video Studio Pro x6 it has a screen capture ...lots of editing features for the video after your done recording it... can make 4k quality videos, ending credits,titles...etc..

Seems to have some trouble recording with eyefinity enabled though...not a big deal for me.

Also it only saves as windows media format .wmv

Should be able to record games with it if in windowed mode ...it will lose focus if the game has a cutscene video while in fullscreen mode..

This is all with version 6 ...there is a version 7 now so it will probably work better....

Definitely try out Freez Screen Capture. There's a couple of shareware links out there that are unnecessary but if you go directly to the developer's site you can get it properly:

http://www.smallvideosoft.com/download.php

Download the 4th link there, screen capture. I love it. video, audio, configurable, and can capture a smaller area if necessary.

There are some good apps on Steam to do this as well but if you want a lightweight free program that does it all, look no further than Freez. Well, it doesn't do it all, but it's handy.

Is what you need. Open Broadcaster Software is free and open source video streaming software. Very lightweight and does the job well. It can record full screen, specific areas or windows. Streamed online or recorded straight to an MP4 file. Also you can record both microphone input and internal sound or mute one or the other or both. Very flexible and free.

Had a quick look, seems alright, have used Fraps before.

Will test it out more over the weekend.

Thanks

I have Nvidia Shadowplay (beta), running, just hit alt 0 and the last 2 minutes of my primary full screen is dumped out to an mp4 file in the videos folder. Useful for keeping awesome moments from games that you are playing just after they happen.

I think it s available for 650 and higher Nvidia cards. Not noticed any issues on fps since I started it up a week ago.
