    Leadwerks Levels Up

I'm missing some plants on tabel and of course a whip on your tabel to make your furture employees work. :)

It seems to be a nice opportunity in US to get into business right from university. I'm missing this a bit here in Germany but also had nice people around for growing ideas.

  1. Looks good. I recommend to apply a generic square box mapping as default.

Like a box with 1m x 1m x 1m as a default. in 80% of all hard-surface models this is a good start for mapping an generic props.

I even have a script in 3dmax which applies me such a box with a maxscript because its so often used and looking okay.

For further tweaking/tiling the tile functionality would be used.

  2. We bought a lot of veg from Pure3D and the vegetation packs were too good. Nothing else we had matched the quality.

lol thanks. Sorry that you have to dress down the models. ;-p

I buy model collections for arch-viz renderings a lot. its very cost efficient. but like in game-dev i dont mix several manufacturer of those models. Having coherent models in style is very important forthe audience eye. :P

  3. I can't assist on code but what I learned the last two years is that you can't do everything on your own. I used to try to do everything on my own too but at a certain point this is just unproductive. I COULD do high-poly trees for projects myself but its just more cost efficient if I buy a library and invest this free time in other things.

Same with outsourcing to freelancers. Before you get mad with recast hire someone if you can afford him and invest this time other LE3 work. Imagine what you can do in 6 months if you outsource this problem. :)

  4. I'm not a fan of the windows GUI look and prefer a dark theme so my eyes don't get distracted from the viewport or just get tired of the white after looking at the screen for hours.

But on the other hand its a good decision from the development point of view. Why invest time into a custom look with colors if there is also a GUI?.

I like the overall concept and drag/drop stuff and realtime monitoring of changed assets. This will save me quite some hours in a project or research stage.

  5. You will (hopefully) learn your whole life. :)

I learn new workflows, shortcuts or whatever with every project too. The point from where you do it professionally is the point where you feel confident enough to call your work professional.

I had this feeling around 2007-2008. Before that time I knew I'm doing ok but not professional.
